In order to make make the viewing and listening of multimedia content as painless as possible, site management have decided to use Real Player tm (Version 4 or later) technology.
This decision was made on the basis that Real Player tm allows us to encode video and audio 'grabs' that are not only of a reasonable quality, but of a size that should ensure that even the users of dial-up accounts (from as low as 28,800 modems) should find the viewing/listening experience relatively painless.
However, to properly experience the multimedia content provided you will probably find it best done with one of the newer browsers from either Netscape tm or Microsoft tm, and you will definitely need the Real Player tm (Version 4 or later) programme.
Links to all these products are provided below, and all three manufacturers provide versions for all the major operating systems.
The icon
is being used on this site to denote Real Player tm Videos, and the icon
to denote Real Player tm Audio files. And the icon
is used to indicate those articles that have some multimedia content. Please note that while the largest file is 148k, all the rest of the files are below 100k and all are designed to commence playing during the downloading process!
This site has been thoroughly tested on both the internal network and through dial-up accounts from various local providers. Should you have problems playing the Real Player tm files on this site, please check if you can play the demonstration videos at the Real Player tm site -- it may be that your Internet Provider has a 'firewall' or 'Proxy Server' that interferes with the playing of these files: if such appears to be the case then suggest to your provider that they should configure their system to identify Real Player tm files.
