ABC staffing levels since 1973

 

 

In 1974 the concept of a staff ceiling was introduced at the ABC. In July 1977 a staff ceiling of 6300 was set. This was to be achieved by 30 June 1978 and was 239 less than the number at 30 June 1977. In March 1978, appeals to the Minister by the Commission saw the level varied. Instead a ceiling of 6400 was placed on the total number of staff employed as at 30 September 1978, with a further review to be made after that date.

Between 1987/88 and 1988/89 there had been a total staff increase of 69 (1.1%). However radio and TV staff numbers decreased. The greatest increase of 27.3% was in the ABC's Marketing Division.
