Over the period from 1979-1987, Sydney's programming mix remained steady, the only significant increase being in children's programming, up from 10.9% in 1979/80 to 20.9% in 1986/87. Both Melbourne and Perth's drama content decreased over the period. In Perth, both news and sport content rose from 9.1% and 8.8% respectively in 1979/80 to 21.9% and 14.3% in 1986/87.
