Helena Austin teaches Language and Literacy at Griffith University. Her current research uses CA and MCA to examine the construction of institutional identities in sites that involve children: schooling, health, law and the family. Together with Peter Freebody and Bronwyn Dwyer, she recently completed a book detailing the construction of the category 'Child-Student' in primary school classrooms:

Schooling the Child: The Making of Students in Classrooms. London: Routledge/Falmer, 2003.
You can download .pdfs (Acrobat files) of the fly leaf explanation and a review by Michael Duffy (TES 6th December 2002, p28).
