software which helps with transcription and synchs transcripts with audio files.

Manny Schegloff's Transcription Module
This website is a comprehensive guide to CA transcription notation, with step-by-step guides to each symbol. Examples come with sound files (requires the free QuickTime Player) so you can hear what transcription symbols typically represent in actual cases.
