Calvin Smith

Calvin Smith is a lecturer at the University of Queensland. He completed a PhD in 1996 on mediation looking at the interaction orders in two quite different institutional settings in which mediation is used to resolve conflicts between people. He now works as a consultant in the Teaching and Educational Development Institute (TEDI) at U of Q. His research interests have included gender (on the social isolation of househusbands), research methodology (technologies for qualitative data analysis), representation and achievement of children's imaginative play (The Sooty Show, Huli children), quality assurance and staff development in higher education. His present research interests include the achievement of collaboration in both face-to-face and e-mediated collaborative learning environments.
