Mike Wise
Mike Wise took his PhD from Murdoch University in 2004. His thesis, Mad science: Discourses of 'schizophrenia' and 'therapy' for hearing voices, is based on materials from a 'therapy' group and interviews with people who hear distressing voices. He has a particular interest in (co-) constructions of, and relationships between, professional and lay accounts of voices and psychosis.
In July 2001, Mike and his supervisor, Mark Rapley, co-presented a paper on 'therapy' for hearing voices at the International Institute of EM/CA conference (Manchester, UK). Mike also presented work at the 2nd Murdoch Symposium on Talk-in-Interaction in December 2001.
