Annette Woods

Annette Woods is a PhD candidate with the School of Education in the University of Queensland. Her research focuses on constructions of literacy and literacy failure in the early years of school. She is particularly interested in exploring issues of enablement and constraint for students as they are involved in intervention and classroom literacy learning.

Annette has a BA/DipEd. from Macquarie University, a Post Grad Dip. in Applied Linguistics from Griffith University, and a Masters of Literacy Education from Queensland University of Technology. Her teaching experience involves fifteen years of teaching in primary, early childhood, and alternative and adult education settings. She has also been involved in several systemic level intervention programs.

At the tertiary level, Annette has been involved in tutoring and lecturing Education courses including 'Language and Discourse in Education', 'Multiliteracies for the Social Sciences', 'School Experience Program' and a Masters level course entitled 'Teaching for Literacy and Multiliteracies'.

With Carolyn Baker, she co-convenes the Transcript Analysis Group in the School of Education at the University of Queensland.
