The Digital Media area at Murdoch University currently offers two majors within its Bachelor of Digital Media Degree.
The brand new course is suitable for anyone who has an artistic flair or an avid interest in how ‘games fit together’. This course can be combined with Interactive Digital Design, Games Technology, Games Software Design and Production, or Screen & Sound. This means you could graduate with a double major. You will be well versed in a number of related fields and prospective employers are likely to snap you up!
The teaching staff at Murdoch University , including Josh Whitkin formerly art director for Interzone have extensive American and international games production experience, with several games titles under their belts!
Games Art and Design Course Information
The course will provide you with a range of industry savvy skills and experience in Games Art and Design production. This means that your focus will be on the aesthetics of games design, art development, modeling, animation, level and games engine application to sound production and project management.
You will work towards a show reel. This process provides you with the ability to work closely with programmers and other related artists, while practicing all that you have learned – its just like working in the industry!

Do you want to create cutting edge digital design? Are you interested in graphic design or the informational possibilities of multimedia, whether it is for Games, Digital Toys, Mobile App's, Handheld's, DVD, Interfaces or the Web? Then you should be studying a Bachelor of Digital Media in Interactive Digital Design at Murdoch University.
An Interactive Digital Design Major at Murdoch University provides students with the technical “how” of multimedia, alongside a critically informed understanding of new media. You will design and create all kinds of interactive and animation projects, some on your own and some for real clients. The projects encourage you to explore and push the creative boundaries of interactive digital design.
The program is designed according to industry needs for graduates with both technical and creative abilities, as well as a clear understanding of content development and industry practices. It will equip you to work in all aspects of the multimedia industry from content development to art direction and project management. The practical core units place the emphasis on project work, enabling you to develop excellent real-world production skills, as well as a sophisticated portfolio of creative multimedia work.

The Multimedia, Interactive Digital Design major is especially designed for students to complete double majors and double degrees. This means that students can complete 2 majors for the price of one in the normal 3 yr period. Students can combine Interactive Digital Design with Screen Production, Media Studies, IT, Radio or Marketing majors allowing students to graduate with a wide range of employable skills. By carefully choosing your elective units, it is also possible to combine the Multimedia degree with other specialist minors in order to focus on a particular career pathway.
