Core Units - 9 points

MCC129 Introduction to Digital Media — 3 pts
Murdoch: S1-internal

This unit introduces fundamental digital media production concepts and processes, providing students with basic skills and literacy in digital media formats, production software, and delivery systems. In the labs students will create and publish their own websites, and learn how to author and upload digital media content such as edited video, audio and still images. The theory workshops will explore the cultural consequences of digital production and distribution, providing students with an understanding of issues concerning interactivity, networks and convergence.

MCC124 Photography and Digital Imaging — 3 pts
Murdoch: S1-internal, S2-internal

This unit provides a practical foundation for students wishing to pursue study in screen, creative media or multimedia production. The emphasis is upon developing strong photographic skills, sophisticated digital editing skills and familiarity with the digital production workflow. Students have the opportunity to choose from an exciting range of projects to hone their skills in industry-standard applications. Alongside the development of practical creative skills, students also develop an understanding of photographic style and genre.

MCC118 Visual Communication — 3 pts
Murdoch: S2-internal

Building upon the skills and understanding developed in Introduction to Digital Media, this unit explores design as it relates to the processes, techniques, and creative possibilities of multimedia production. Students develop a culturally informed understanding of new media genres as well as skills and experience in developing basic interactive multimedia

General Electives - 12 points

Select from any 100-level units offered by the University, subject to individual unit prerequisites. Part II - 48 points

Core Units - 24 points

MCC251 Interactive Multimedia — 4 pts
Murdoch: S1-internal

This unit provides students with a solid basis in the programming and design of interactive multimedia. It supplies an accessible introduction to the programming 'mindset' (concepts, syntax, strategies), and enables students to design and develop interactive new media products.

MCC218 Web Games Design and Production — 4 pts
Murdoch: S2-internal

This unit focuses on developing interactive authoring skills using Macromedia Flash. Students are challenged to think creatively about the possibilities of interactive new media. Project work involves experimentation in new media genres, visual/conceptual analysis, games design, interactive narrative and generative computation.

MCC241 Animation — 4 pts
Murdoch: S1-internal

Whether it is a personal animation, cinema titles or a sophisticated commercial motion graphics, students have the choice of an exciting range of work to hone their skills in 2D motion graphic design for multiple screen formats. This unit focuses on design & production of 2D animation and motion-graphics using Adobe CS production suite. Students gain an understanding of the design process & traditions that inform design, animation and multimedia screen design practice.

MCC338 Multimedia Client Project — 4 pts
Murdoch: S1-internal

This unit focuses on developing project management skills in Multimedia environments. Students participate in client-based group production work as well as pursuing individual study in areas such as interactive video, advanced website construction, animation, game authoring and interactive narrative.
