Meg Rickards

Image - Ross GibsonMeg Rickards is a Research Associate at the University of Cape Town, where she is completing a PhD in Film and Media. Her thesis investigates ways in which filmmakers can externalise interiority: how they can convey a character’s thoughts, emotions and dreams on the screen. Apart from teaching on film courses at the university, Rickards works as a screenwriter and director in the South African film industry.  She has recently written a three-part miniseries for the South African Broadcasting Corporation, and will also serve as director. The novel Zinzi and the Boondoggle, which she has co-written for children aged 8-12, is slated for publication by Struik Publishers in 2007. At the moment Rickards is working on a short film based on the same story and hopes that the feature will be made in the future.
