Staff - Andrew Ewing

Andrew teaches screen production and photography at Murdoch University. He is also a serving member of the Film and Television Institute ((WA) Board. 

Andrew is skilled in most areas of film production. His short film Resonancewas awarded Best Narrative Video at the 2002 National Student Film and Video Festival in Sydney and nominated for Best Short Drama at the 2002 WA Screen Awards. Resonancewas his fourth film as writer, director, cinematographer. His first, Smile, won the WA Screen Award for Best Experimental film in 1998 and his follow up pieces Violenceand Capsule were both well received, screening at several national festivals.

He has served as cinematographer on a number of other short film including The Malefactor and Sweeper directed by Tim Holland, the multi award winning Soon directed by Jen Jamieson and amongst others Perplexity and Fade directed by Melbourne based writer/director Stuart Moffat.

Andrew is currently completing his screen production PhD at Murdoch University. On the weekends he takes on his alternate identity as a musician, on stage in local pubs and nightclubs with his band Thumb. Andrew has worked on numerous music videos for local Perth bands such as Gata Negra, Headshot and El Horizonte.
