A/Prof. Jenny de Reuck
Associate Professor Jenny de Reuck lectures in Theatre and Drama Studies and Creative Arts at Murdoch University. She is the Director of Children's Theatre at Murdoch and has written several plays for young people, produced each year in Murdoch's Nexus Theatre with audiences drawn from the Perth metropolitan area as well as from regional arenas such as Geraldton and Jurien Bay. Several of her plays are being published as an e-book series by Hush, the Performing Arts Library, with "Shakespeare at Sea" and "A Playwright's Manuscript" available in 2003. In 2004 she will be working with young Batswana in Africa to create performance pieces that address the complex topic of HIV/AIDS with a view to developing, through drama, a 'life skills' programme.
Her research interests include a current engagement with Shakespearean adaptations and the implications for productions of contemporary performance theory. She has also published broadly in the field of postcolonial writing where her focus has been on the feminist issue of the relationship between the personal and the political in the construction of historical 'truth'.
